Seeking postdoctoral researchers, research scientists, and senior research scientists

Area of Research

Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Atomic Physics and Quantum Optics using Artificial Atoms, Superconducting Qubits, and Quantum Information Processing.

Available Position and Job Description

Openings for postdoctoral researchers, research scientists, and senior research scientists in theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum computing.

We perform research in theoretical condensed matter physics, nanoscience, quantum information processing, atomic physics, optics, quantum optics, and computational physics. Our research work is interdisciplinary and also explores the interface between atomic physics, quantum optics, nano-science, and quantum information. We are also studying nano-mechanics, hybrid quantum electro-mechanical systems, optomechanics, quantum nano-electronics, quantum emulators, artificial photosynthesis, and light-to-electricity conversion. Particular emphasis is being placed on superconducting Josephson-junction qubits, scalable quantum circuitry and improved designs for their quantum control. An underlying theme of our work is to better understand nano-scale quantum systems and devise methods to control them. We use physical models to make predictions that can be tested experimentally and that can be used to better understand the observed phenomena. We collaborate with experimentalists located elsewhere, but we have no laboratory facilities, and thus cannot consider applications from experimentalists.
RIKEN offers competitive salaries, and outstanding computational facilities.
