Job description

Adjustment, maintenance and operation of GPU clusters and PC clusters in the RAIDEN computing system (a deep learning analysis system).
Furthermore, construction, maintenance, and operation of systems involving process control tools and software development server groups.
Work includes installation, testing, and drafting the manual for the deep learning framework.

Qualifications

Master's degree holder in a field indicated under [Job description] or equivalent abilities.
In addition, the candidate must possess two or more of the following skills.

  • Ability to operate a Linux operating system securely
  • Ability to retain setting for SSH, HTTP, NFS, and the like
  • Experience in setting up Redmine or other issue tracking tool
  • Experience in using Deep Leaning Framework(s), for example, Caffe, chainer or tensorflow.
  • Experience in implementing machine learning applications using Python, R or other popular languages
  • Experience in using and setting up docker

Salary and benefits

For Technical Scientist:

  1. Applicants must be fixed-term employees who are able to accept multiple year employment contracts (maximum 3 years), extended to maximum number of fiscal years ending 7 years from appointment, depending on RIKEN performance review. Performance review for promotion is scheduled in the fiscal year after the fourth year from appointment. Extension for the 6th fiscal year may be declined, depending on evaluation.
  2. RIKEN may adjust the above maximum period of renewability based on a) the employee's abilities, work load at the time of contract completion, performance and work attitude and b) the continuation of the employee's center, laboratory or project and RIKEN's management situation and budget at the time.
  3. The employee's period of fixed-term employment shall not exceed 10 years from the initial date of hire (or 10 years from April 1, 2013 for fixed-term employees already at RIKEN prior to this date).

For Technical Staff I:

  1. A one-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable based on evaluation, to a maximum of the end of the fiscal year (March 31) in which the employee completes 7 years of employment, depending on RIKEN performance review. Performance review for promotion is scheduled in the fiscal year after the fourth year from appointment. Extension for the 6th fiscal year may be declined, depending on evaluation.
  2. RIKEN may adjust the above maximum period of renewability based on a) the employee's abilities, work load at the time of contract completion, performance and work attitude and b) the continuation of the employee's center, laboratory or project and RIKEN's management situation and budget at the time.
  3. The employee's period of fixed-term employment shall not exceed 10 years from the initial date of hire (or 10 years from April 1, 2013 for fixed-term employees already at RIKEN prior to this date).

The salary system is annual and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will apply. Mandatory membership in the RIKEN Mutual Benefit Society (RIKEN Kyosaikai) is required.
Days off include public holidays, New year's holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3), and RIKEN Foundation Day.
These and other provisions are in accordance with RIKEN regulations.
