Seeking a Technical Staff(CSRS-1703)

Research Field

The main goal of our group is to understand the molecular mechanisms of immunity in plants. We plan to systematically identify and characterize genes, proteins, small molecules, beneficial microbes that are important for defense against pathogens by using genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics approaches. We aim to elucidate the signaling networks involved in plant immunity by analyzing the expression patterns of defense-related genes and their post-transcriptional regulation, such as protein modification and the formation of complexes. Infection of plants is economically damaging to agricultural industries worldwide, and understanding the molecular basis of the natural disease resistance mechanisms that plants utilize would provide new strategies to combat the most damaging pathogens.

Qualification

The candidate should possess a degree in a microbiogy and/or plant biology-related field.
Candidates who have experience in genome assembly / annotation using bioinformatics tools will be given priority.
Candidates who have programing skills will also be given priority.

Salary and benefits

Terms of contract

  1. One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable based on evaluation, up to the end of the fiscal year exceeding seven years since the initial date of hire.
  2. RIKEN will decide whether to enter into a new contract on the basis of the employee's abilities, work load, performance, work attitude, continuation of the center, laboratory or project in which the employee is involved at the time of termination of the original contract, and on the basis of RIKEN's situation and budget conditions at the time.
  3. For contracts entered into on or after April 1, 2013, RIKEN will not enter into a new fixed-term employment contract that extends the employee's total years of employment at RIKEN to more than 10 years.
  4. When the center to which the Employee is affiliated is scheduled for a final review and it is decided that the Employee's research will not be continued, the provision given above for projects of limited duration applies and the Employee's contract will not be renewed for the 2023 year that would extend employment beyond the center's final fiscal year

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will be applied. Mandatory membership in the RIKEN Mutual Benefit Society (RIKEN Kyosaikai).

Holidays

Days off include public holidays, New Year's holidays (Dec. 29 - Jan 3), and RIKEN Foundation Day.

Other provisions

Other provisions are in accordance with RIKEN regulations.
