101st Japan Academy Prize awarded to Naoyuki Taniguchi

Naoyuki Taniguchi

On April 12, Dr. Naoyuki Taniguchi, Group Director of RIKEN Advanced Science Institute, was awarded the Japan Academy Prize for his research on "Glycobiology specifically pioneering achievements for the importance of N-linked oligosaccharide against diseases."

This prize is awarded to persons who have achieved notable research landmarks or who have authored particularly outstanding academic papers or books. The award ceremony will be held on June at the Japan Academy, Tokyo.

Comment from Dr. Naoyuki Taniguchi

I am deeply honored to receive this award. In the future, I hope to continue to make my own humble contribution to the achievements of my Japanese predecessors in the area of glycoscience while working, as a member of the Chemical Biology Department of the RIKEN Advanced Science Institute, for the further development of integrated research in the area of glycobiology.
