Being distinct from conventional semiconductors where single electron picture can explain their properties and device functionalities, correlated quantum materials exhibit exotic properties governed by electron-electron interaction. When dissimilar electronic states are faced at atomically controlled interfaces, their keen competition is expected to give gigantic responses to external stimuli. Also emerging field is to explore novel quantum transport in two-dimensional systems created at the interfaces of such materials. We aim at designing and controlling the interfacial properties to realize surpassing device performances in switches, sensors and photovoltaics to those of semiconductors.
