Protein Functional and Structural Biology…We plan to develop novel methods for preparing and crystallizing important biomolecules, such as membrane proteins, and also establish the X-ray crystallography technology platform that will help to solve problems in drug development and medical treatment. By providing the three-dimensional structure information we will determine for in silico screening and by determination of the structures of target proteins complexed with candidate compounds, we will promote innovation on drug development. We also plan to determine the structures of homologous proteins, which will help the design of more specific compounds, in order to reduce side effect.
