Most of membrane receptors such as growth factor receptors are glycoproteins but the roles of their glycans are not fully understood. Our laboratory aims to explore the roles of glycans in the development and differentiation under physiological conditions as well as in the life style-related diseases such as COPD, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and demyelinating disease. We also focus on basic research in order to develop new biomarkers and therapeutics using glycans for these diseases.
