Recently various kinds of drugs such as antiviral agent, anticancer agent and molecular targeted agent are used as therapeutics for hepatitis or liver cancer. To enhance the therapeutic effectiveness and minimize side effects, we analyze genetic polymorphisms that may associate with the responsiveness of each agent by using SNP(s) as a marker(s). We also analyze SNP(s) that may contribute to susceptibility and development of various chronic liver diseases. Our goals are (1) establishment of personalized medicine for various liver diseases and (2) contribution to development of new therapies, diagnostic method, and prophylactic approach to various liver diseases.
