Many elderly people are using health foods and supplements in order to extend their healthy life span. However, there are some whose effectiveness is not scientifically proven. Animal experiments have been used to demonstrate effectiveness in the past, but in recent years it has become difficult to evaluate using experimental animals from the viewpoint of animal welfare. In our group, using the knowledge of the biomaterial development and the induction of differentiation of functional cells from human iPS cells, we will prepare evaluation systems (Organs on a chip) for ingredients contained in health foods, cosmetics and supplements.
