Conventional and genetic modification-based breeding methods have been used to improve crops. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet the growing demand for food and biomass for various reasons including population increase and climate change. Therefore innovation in the area of plant breeding is more important than ever before. Our team aims to develop an innovative platform technology for plant breeding, which is more efficient, precise, universal, and socially acceptable, by integrating a novel plant cell manipulation technique with state-of-the-art genome modification technology.
