Our research objective is the establishment of RIKEN as a major center of computational science in the 21st century, the age of prediction. We focus on computational sciences for the life sciences, which have grown greatly in importance at RIKEN in recent years, incorporating materials and mathematical sciences, which have key importance to create a novel foundation for development of computational sciences. RIKEN's Next-Generation Super Computer is planned as a platform to maximize exploitation, and as a core organ of its research effort.
