BioResource Center
The RIKEN BioResource Center (RIKEN BRC) was established in 2001, with the ultimate goal to promote Life Sciences by facilitating experimental biological materials, commonly referred as "bioresources". Since its establishment, the Center has been operating with three principles, "Trust", "Sustainability", and "Leadership". The RIKEN BRC has been aiming to establish an intellectual foundation in Japan that serves to national and international scientific communities. Furthermore, the RIKEN BRC has been striving to establish "the RIKEN BRC Brand" and to earn "Respect and Admiration" from the society.
Bioresources are essential and fundamental requirements for Life Science research as well as important intellectual assets. As a central core institution in Japan totally devoted to bioresources, the RIKEN BRC is responsible for strategic and sustainable collection, preservation and provision of bioresources by exercising leadership. Acceleration of cooperation among scientists in Japan and overseas, especially in Asia, is other important mission of the RIKEN BRC.
The RIKEN BRC consists of Department of Biological Systems comprised with six Divisions, Bioresource Engineering Division, Technology and Development Team for Mammalian Cellular Dynamics and Technology and Development Team for BioSignal Program that are comprised two Subteams, BioSignal Integration and Manipulation of Cell Fate.
