Research Areas

Effects and side effects of medical therapeutics differ among individuals because of different levels of drug absorption, metabolism and excretion rates. These different responses are largely due to genetic background. Some genetic polymorphisms including SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms), should be markers of these differences. In this study, we analyze SNPs that may correlate with the above effects and side effects of drugs and the effect of these SNPs on the genetic expression of genetic products. Our goals are the establishment of order-made therapeutics, the identification of new genes that are related in regard to therapeutic effects and the development of a new drug therapy.

Research Subject

  1. Identification of genes related to the effects and side effects of interferon
  2. Identification of genes related to the effects and side effects of anti-cancer agents
