Major part of research activity in this research group, is directed to the synthesis of glycoconjugate, particularly glycoproteins and related compounds, which are useful in clarifying biological roles of glycan chains. Recent subjects depicted in the figure include the following, (1) new reaction was developed to synthesize asparagine-linked glycna chains and was applied to the fully chemical synthesis of complex oligosaccharide associated with protein quality control. (2) efficient synthetic route to the recently discovered C-linked glycoprotein structure motif was established. (3) in order to speed up the synthesis of complex and structurally diverse glycan chains, novel methodology which utilize polymer support is under investigation.
