Seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist (W20144)

Laboratory

Extreme Natural Phenomena RIKEN Hakubi Research Team
RIKEN Cluster for Pioneering Research
(Team Leader: Teruaki Enoto)

Research Field

We apply measurement techniques of high-energy cosmic radiation to study extreme natural phenomena of the universe. Our three principal research projects are:

  • 1.High-energy atmospheric physics of lightning and thunderclouds.
  • 2.New X-ray astronomy using CubeSats.
  • 3.Search for water resources on the Moon using neutron signals.

The central idea behind these projects is the "collective power of science," which means organically connecting multiple instruments to produce scientific results, rather than a single massive detector. This term also reflects our desire to reinterpret science as a culture in collaboration with society, rather than a closed one in researchers, by utilizing academic crowdfunding and an open science framework. In this application, we seek applications for the third project to explore water resources on the Moon.
