Seeking a Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher (W21002)

Superconducting Quantum Computing System Research Unit,
RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing
(Laboratory head: Yutaka Tabuchi)

Research Field

The RQC aims to study quantum information theory, develop techniques for quantum control and measurement, build quantum computing hardware and software, and explore novel quantum technologies. We will promote the progress of quantum information science and contribute to society through the application of quantum technologies.

Our unit pursues the realization of scalable superconducting quantum computers and conducts research and development of three-dimensional integration of superconducting circuits, including quantum chips and peripheral circuits. We extend the design method of a quantum chip to that of the system level, ensuring the system having scalability and integrability.

Job title and Job description

Job title

Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist: a few positions

Postdoctoral Researcher is defined as those with a doctoral degree of 5 years or less.
Research Scientist is defined as those with a doctoral degree more than 5 years.

*The type of position will be decided based on applicant's ability, aptitude etc.

Job description

The successful candidates will work on research and development of superconducting quantum computers, particularly on three-dimensional integration of superconducting quantum circuits using flip-chip bonding and through-silicon vias. They will establish a concrete design method of a quantum computing system through their integration of a multi-layered vertical accessible quantum circuit.
Research experience in related fields, such as quantum electronics, superconducting electronics, microwave engineering, and nanofabrication technology, is desirable.

This project relates to JST Moonshot research and development program.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree, or expect to receive a doctoral degree before the start of employment, in the field of superconducting quantum computing and related fields (e.g., superconducting quantum circuits, superconducting electronics, microwave engineering and nanofabrication).
