Job description

We are looking for individuals who will develop image processing and information processing technologies for bioimaging data of stem cells and organoids taken by state-of-the-art imaging technologies, including our original super widefield high resolution live imaging system and biaxial light-sheet microscopy live imaging system. The individuals will contribute to elucidating the mechanisms of organogenesis, interactions among organoids, and fate determination of stem cells.

The successful candidates will collaborate with stem cells/organoids biologists and imaging technology developers under joint supervision of leading scientists in bioimage informatics and image processing. We organize a virtual supervising group of leading scientists in bioimage informatics and image processing from universities and research institutes inside and outside Japan. We expect the successful candidates to make the most of the research environment at the RIKEN.

Specifically, the successful candidates will be responsible for developing image processing technologies, including whole-cell tracking, cell feature discrimination, and causal inference methods related to one or more of the following research topics:

  • Topic 1: Elucidation of the mechanism of emerging organoids from stem cells
  • Topic 2: Elucidation of the interactions between organoids
  • Topic 3: Elucidation of the mechanisms that determine the diversity of stem cells

The developed methods will be released as open-source software tools. We expect the successful candidates to contribute to the development of the field of bioimage informatics worldwide.

Qualification
