Seeking Senior Research Scientist, Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher (IMS106-2203)

Laboratory

Laboratory for Large-Scale Biomedical Data Technology
RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences
(Team leader: Takeya Kasukawa)

Research Field

Today, life scientists need to find and investigate various achievements and findings from published journals and databases, and they collect and annotate additional information for their further studies each by each. This requires additional data management tasks in their research activities. Our mission is developing technologies for achieving efficient genomics data management as follows.

  • (1)Research and development of element technologies for systems to manage large-scale genomics data in proper, efficient, and sustainable manners.
  • (2)Constructing reference data set to compare various large-scale genomics data.
Along with these developments, we are going to set up computational infrastructure that is adequate. These activities could contribute to address increasingly larger amount of next generation sequencing data produced inside and outside the division, in order to utilize such knowledge to further applied researches including drug discoveries and medical practices.

Job title and Job description

Position available

Few openings for Senior Research Scientist, Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher

Job description

The successful candidate will engage in the research project “Construction of an integrative data platform for transcriptional regulations” funded by “Database Integration Coordination Program” in JST-NBDC.

R&D subject
Construction of an Integrative data platform for transcriptional regulation. The period of the project starts from April 2022 to March 2027 (at longest).
Overview
We will develop a new database (fanta.bio) about cis-regulatory elements (CREs), which are the genomic regions contributing to transcriptional regulations, in human, mouse, and non-human primates. We also develop a new data platform (INtegrated TRAnscriptional REgulation Data platform, INTRARED) by integrating fanta.bio with other databases related to transcriptional regulations. The fanta.bio is a web-based database consisting of comprehensively collected CREs including enhancers and promoters with their activity information in various cell types and conditions. For bridging CREs and medical applications, we associate CREs with neighboring genomic variations and alterations around CREs. INTRARED is a data platform integrating CREs, trans factors and epigenomic information to provide useful information about transcription regulation. INTRARED will be constructed in cooperation with the fanta.bio database and ChIP-Atlas database teams. This open call is for seeking candidates who can commit to the project and lead the whole R&D project in collaboration with other research and technical staffs in the project team.
