Thermoelectric materials can be used not only as modules for thermoelectric power generation but also as Peltier cooling devices. Although Peltier coolers present many advantages their cooling power is much lower than that of conventional compressor-type coolers.
Therefore, research into new thermoelectric materials with higher performance is essential.
The study shows that high electron mobility in the silver layers of a layered material β-CuAgSe with a partial substitution for Cu results in high thermoelectric performance.
