We are studying functional linkages among organs, tissues, and cells using multi-modal imaging technologies including PET, fluorescence/bioluminescence imaging, microendoscope imaging. In this research unit, particularly, we are challenging to extend such multi-modal imaging technologies to electron microscopic level, to observe the common cells and molecules in organ-, tissue-, cellular-, and subcellular levels. Further, we are developing a technology to obtain large-scale (> 1mm2) electron microscopic images of tissue microstructure and to analyze automatically such imaging big data.
