Research Summary

One of the core components of the RI Beam Factory (RIBF) is the superconducting RI beam generator BigRIPS, which is used to produce slow RI beams of long-lived fission-produced nuclei (LLFPs) and minor actinides (MAs). The slow RI beams are used to study transmutation data obtained by their reactions with protons and deuterons. We are developing methods to produce high-purity RI beams and to decelerate them while suppressing the beam size and energy spread. We are developing a software infrastructure to automatically execute the complex procedures developed.
