RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science Nuclear Chemistry Research Team
Team Leader: Hiromitsu Haba (D.Sci.)
Research Summary

We develop production technologies of radioisotopes (RIs) at RIKEN RI Beam Factory (RIBF) for application studies in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, pharmaceutical and environmental sciences. We mainly use the RIs for nuclear and radiochemical studies such as superheavy element chemistry. Purified RIs such as Zn-65 and Cd-109 are delivered to universities and institutes through Japan Radioisotope Association. We also develop new technologies of mass spectrometry for the trace-element analyses using accelerator technology and apply them to the research fields such as cosmochemistry, environmental science, archaeology and so on. We employ the conventional technology of isotopic measurements to examine sulfur and lead in geochemical and archeological samples. We also develop chemical materials for ECR ion sources of RIBF.
