RIKEN establishes office for internal reform

On April 4, 2014, RIKEN established a new office for internal reform. The office will aim to strengthen measures for the prevention of research misconduct and to restore high standards of research, by investigating the current situation and issuing appropriate instructions.

RIKEN has also decided to establish a committee of outside experts to propose reforms for the prevention of research misconduct. This committee will, from a third-party perspective, identify problems and propose solutions, and its findings will be used to decide matters that should be taken up urgently by the office for internal reform.
