The primary mission of the RIKEN SPring-8 Center (RSC) is to maintain stable and reliable operation of the large-scale research facilities SPring-8 and SACLA, and to provide brilliant X-rays for a broad range of researchers from universities, research institutes, and industries.

The RSC develops state-of-the-art technologies for the production and utilization of brilliant X-rays and creates new science through the synergistic use of the two research facilities. The RSC also develops cryo-electron microscopy and high-performance NMR that are analysis tools complementary to synchrotron radiation.
