Campus eEntry Procedures procedures for Visitorsvisitors
Important: Changes to campus entry procedures for visitors from September 2026
Starting in September 2026, campus entry procedures for visitors will change. To facilitate entry, we plan to introduce a new pre-registration system that uses QR codes. Pre-registration using the new system will be required, and paper applications for same-day entry will no longer be accepted. In addition, please note that visitors will be unable to enter campus without the advance approval of a RIKEN staff member.
Visitors are asked to pre-register for entry to Wako Campus via the laboratory/division that they will visit.
For the pre-registration procedures, please refer to “Visitor pre-registration.”
Things to keep in mind for your visit
- You may be asked to present a photo ID for entry procedures. Please bring a form of photo ID (such as a passport or residence card) with you on the day of your visit.
- When you arrive at the campus guard station, you will receive a one-day entry permit on a lanyard. While on campus, please wear the lanyard around your neck at all times.
- If you plan to visit RIKEN by car, please read the "Visiting by car" section below.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Wako Campus (this includes vapes).
- Entry to campus for the purpose of walk-in sales or distributing fliers is prohibited.
Visitor pre-registration
There are two ways to complete visitor pre-registration.
- A.Pre-registration by RIKEN staff
Before your visit, please ask a RIKEN staff member in the laboratory/division you will visit to complete your pre-registration. Once the staff member has completed your pre-registration, you will receive an email with a QR code. Please present this QR code at the guard station on the day of your visit to receive your one-day entry permit. - B.A visitor registers a visit request
Using this method, visitors themselves submit a request to visit campus. The process is as follows:- 1. Please submit a visit request through the Visitor Registration System (for visitor use). Note that the system is available only in Japanese. Please use your browser's translation function to register.
- 2.The RIKEN staff member you indicated in your visit request will review your request and either approve or reject it.
- 3.If approved, you will receive an email with a QR code. Please present this QR code at the guard station on the day of your visit to receive your one-day entry permit.
Visiting by car
Due to a shortage of parking spaces, Wako Campus is promoting the effective use of parking spaces and working to decrease the number of cars entering campus. Please read and confirm the campus entry procedures and parking rules. We also encourage visitors to use public transport or to carpool where possible. When parking your car on campus, please make sure to place the parking permit on the dashboard where it can easily be seen from outside the vehicle. You will receive a parking permit at the guard station when receiving your one-day entry permit.
Please park in designated parking spaces on campus (see the map linked below). To help avoid accidents, please refrain from parking or idling on campus roads.
