Issuing official RIKEN certificates
Note: If you currently work at RIKEN, apply from the JINJI-Application system.
Certificate of Employment / Affiliation, and Certificate of Termination of Employment
Electronic certificates can be issued for the above certificates. To request an electronic certificate, fill out and attach the "Application for certificate" and send it to the e-mail address below. If there is a designated form, please attach that as well. (If an official seal is required, we will issue the certificate with an electronic seal.)
If an original copy (paper) of the certificate is required, please post-mail the "Application for certificate" and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address below. If there is a designated form, please enclose that as well.

Note: It usually takes about two weeks to issue the certificate, and longer during the busy period.

Note: With regard to income tax slips, we issue them to those who are leaving RIKEN around the 20th of the month following the month the employee left RIKEN. If you wish to request a reissue, we can send it to you in PDF format. To get a reissue, please send an e-mail to the following address with the subject "Income Tax Slip Issuance Request" and include your ID, name, date you left RIKEN, position and affiliation (including lab name) at the time of retirement, and state the year for which you require an income tax slip in the text of the Email.

RIKEN Alumni Email Service
RIKEN offers an email forwarding service to all RIKEN alumni by providing them with alumni email addresses that are only used for forwarding.
Mail sent to your alum.riken.jp address will be forwarded to your registered forwarding email address.
This forwarding service is to keep RIKEN-related personnel connected to RIKEN and provide them with the latest RIKEN news and information.
RIKEN considers it important to maintain strong ties with RIKEN alumni as science and technology are developing at a rapid pace.
We hope that many of you will register for this service.
Registration procedure
Please send an email that includes the information shown below to the RIKEN email service secretariat at ob_address[at]ml.riken.jp.
- Name
- RIKEN ID (if you remember)
- Your affiliation while at RIKEN
- Period of time at RIKEN (rough description is acceptable)
- Forwarding email addresses (up to three email addresses)
Based on the information included in the email, your service period in RIKEN will be confirmed. After confirmation, you will receive an email notifying you that the forwarding service is available.
An alumni email address will be created based on your name and in the following format.
First name.family name.two alphabet letters (to prevent duplication)@alum.riken.jp.
Example: Taro Riken → taro.riken.aa@alum.riken.jp
