RIKEN installs and operates security cameras to prevent crime and nuisances, to allow confirmation of the situation when accidents or incidents occur, and to ensure the safety of the community.

Personal information obtained by cameras

• Full-body video and images
• A record of movements to the extent that can be determined from video and images

Purposes of use

• To prevent crime and nuisances
• To allow confirmation of the situation and to preserve evidence in the case of an accident or incident
• To ensure the safety of RIKEN and its employees as well as nearby residents
  • Note: For any of the above purposes of use, this includes cases where obtained images are analyzed manually or by machine.
• Provision to third parties for disclosures permitted by law, such as in response to inquiries from police or other authorities in accordance with the law

Scope of recording

Within RIKEN grounds and facilities, including exteriors and external structures (such as entrances/exits, parking lots, perimeter fences, walls, etc.)

• Note: Depending on camera positioning, public roads and other areas outside of RIKEN's grounds may be included in the scope of recording.

Storage period

In principle, personal information (such as video footage and feature data) that has exceeded the retention period specified by RIKEN will be deleted.
However, such information may be stored and used beyond the retention period to the extent necessary for the purposes of use specified in "Purposes of use", above.

Safety management measures

RIKEN will manage personal information collected through security cameras in accordance with Paragraph 4 of our privacy policy.

Provision to third partiess

RIKEN will not provide personal data obtained through security cameras to third parties, except for disclosures permitted by law, such as in response to inquiries from police or other authorities in accordance with the law.

Other information

Any matters pertaining to the handling of personal information which are not mentioned in this notice are handled in accordance with RIKEN's privacy policy.
