Bulgarian President visits Wako Campus

On May 21, H.E. Rumen Radev, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria visited the RIKEN Wako Campus, accompanied by a delegation of 20 people including H.E. Marieta Arabadjieva, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Japan; H.E. Hisashi Michigami, the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria; and representatives from major universities, research institutions, and companies in Bulgaria.

The visit began with an address from Executive Vice President Masashi Kawasaki, followed by an introduction to RIKEN from Special Advisor to the President Makiko Naka and an introduction to the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing (RQC) by Deputy Director Shinichi Yorozu. There was then a discussion about cooperation between RIKEN and research institutes in Bulgaria.

This was followed by a tour of RQC, including the superconducting quantum computer “A,” led by RQC Deputy Director Yorozu.
