Research Summary

Hirozumi Yamaguchi

In this research team, we challenge ourselves to research and develop a large-scale digital twin computing platform using Fugaku, grounded in cyber-physical systems. This platform utilizes multi-point data streams such as 3D point clouds, videos, and movement logs of people and vehicles collected from various locations through urban sensing technologies as inputs. It also employs diverse formats of data, including urban environment data, geographical data, energy data, and meteorological data. Utilizing these, we perform seamless IoT distributed data stream processing, data aggregation over 5G/6G, real-time intelligent data processing, and feedback to the real society. Through this series of data processing steps, we enable the large-scale control of human and vehicle flows, disaster mitigation, environmental improvements, urban planning, infrastructure design, energy optimization, and policy improvements, which are key challenges in smart cities. This can lead to various solutions and optimizations, improving conditions across a broad range of fields such as traffic, disaster prevention and reduction, the environment, health, smart homes, and smart buildings. This digital twin platform targets the realization of the super-smart society envisioned by Society 5.0.
