RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science Beam Mutagenesis Group

Director: Tomoko Abe (D.Agr.)

Research Summary

This group promotes biological applications of ion beams from RI Beam Factory. Ion Beam Breeding Team studies various biological effects of fast heavy ions and develops new technology to breed plants and microbials by heavy-ion irradiations. Mutation Genomics Team studies the role of chromosomal rearrangements in plant genome evolution using various mutants induced by the heavy-ion irradiations.
