Seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Associate (K24066)

Laboratory

Laboratory for Vascular Morphogenesis
RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research
(Team Leader: Li-Kun Phng)

Outline of Laboratory

The Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research (BDR) views the functions of molecules, cells, and organs that support all life stages of organisms as a dynamic system, and aims to elucidate developmental, growth and aging phenomena as well as apply their findings to develop regenerative medicine and diagnostics, thereby contributing to the extension of healthy life expectancies.

The Laboratory for Vascular Morphogenesis aims to understand how blood vessel networks are generated and maintained. To achieve this, we seek to unravel fundamental mechanisms that regulate endothelial cell behaviors during the development, remodeling and maintenance of blood vessels. We use the zebrafish as our preferred animal model to observe and understand endothelial cell behaviors during vessel formation and remodeling. To address our questions, we employ zebrafish genetics, chemical biology, quantitative live imaging and image analysis, microfluidics, computational fluid dynamics and single cell transcriptome profiling.
