The Noyori Summer School is an annual event held for PhD students doing their research work at RIKEN. The event provides opportunities for interaction and exchange between young researchers from various research fields and countries, as both international and Japanese students are invited to take part in the two-day event, which this year will take place on September 6th and 7th in Kobe.

This year the event will start with a talk by RIKEN president Ryoji Noyori, followed by poster sessions and a keynote speech by Dr Masayo Takashi from the Laboratory for Retinal Regeneration at the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology, and a pioneer in the development of iPS cell-based therapies to cure retinal diseases.

The second day of the school will feature talks by researchers from various RIKEN centres and will end with a poster award ceremony and closing talk by RIKEN executive director Dr Maki Kawai.

In total 144 students, part of RIKEN's IPA and JRA programs for PhD students, will attend the event, as well as well as 9 post docs and 11 researchers.
