On March 2, about 110 doctoral students and young researchers from both Japan and the Asia-Pacific and African regions, came to RIKEN’s Wako campus as part of the four-day 9th HOPE Meeting, which is part of a program organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) since 2008. After listening to an introduction to RIKEN from Executive Director Shigeharu Kato and Honorary Scientist Yuji Kamiya, they were split into ten groups and given tours of laboratories at RIKEN. It was drizzling during the visit but the participants braved the rain to dash between labs and ask lots of questions to the researchers who introduced their work to them. More information on the program is available in the HOPE Meeting webpage.
