Finnish Ambassador to Japan Pekka Orpana visits RIKEN Center for Computational Science
The Ambassador and his wife with R-CCS Center Director Matsuoka On November 29, Finnish Ambassador to Japan Pekka Orpana visited the RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) in Kobe, accompanied by his wife, Paula Kuru-Orpana.
The visit began with a welcome address and overview of RIKEN by Kenichi Fujita, Director of RIKEN’s International Affairs Division, followed by an introduction by R-CCS Director Satoshi Matsuoka of R-CCS and the supercomputer Fugaku. The rest of the visit included an exchange of views on potential cooperation between Japan and Finland in the field of information science, and a visit by the Ambassador and his wife of the computer room. The visit to the supercomputer took place using infection prevention measures, and the participants only removed their masks for the photo.
