At about 6:20 this morning, fire alarms were activated in the Nishina LINAC Laboratory on the Wako Campus, at 2-1 Hirosawa, Wako City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and this was reported to the fire department. The fire department evaluated the situation, and determined there was no fire. They concluded there had been smoke caused by heat from laboratory equipment, but that there was no fire. As of now, there has not been any damage to the outside from the incident. In addition, there were no injuries from the incident. We will work to determine the cause of the incident and to prevent future occurrences.
