RIKEN R-CCS and CEA sign new agreement to strengthen partnership

In a ceremony held on July 1 at the French Pavillion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, the RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of computational science and computer science, including "high-performance computing applications, AI, big data, quantum computing, system software development, performance analysis of new architectures, and operational technologies." Under this MoU, the two organizations will promote research collaboration using the supercomputer Fugaku.

This marks a further development of the relationship between RIKEN and CEA, which began with the signing of an MoU in 2017 and was further strengthened between an additional MoU signed between R-CCS and CEA in 2021. The current ceremony was an amendment of the 2021 agreement with added fields of research.
