RIKEN Center for Advanced Photonics Advanced Laser Processing Research Team

Team Leader: Koji Sugioka (D.Eng.)

Research Summary

Koji Sugioka(D.Eng.)

Currently, laser is an essential tool for processing materials and thereby is widely employed for practical use. Our research team aims at research and development of advanced laser processing which realizes low environmental load, high quality, high efficiency, high resolution fabrication of materials. Specifically, by using ultrafast lasers, novel material processing that cannot be achieved by the other conventional techniques is developed. The techniques to be developed include three-dimensional micro/nanofabrication, high aspect ratio machining, surface nanostructuring, and synthesis of new materials, which are applied for fabrication of biochips, ultrahigh sensitive sensors, and high function photonic and electronic microdevices.
