Research Summary

Yoshie  Otake

The RIKEN Accelerator-driven Compact Neutron Systems (RANS) project aims to realise ‘neutrons anywhere, anytime’ and has been conducting research and development of systems including on-site novel neutron measurement technology. Currently, the proton accelerator-driven systems, RANS and RANS-II are in constant operation in Wako, the RANS-III trans-portable neutron system for on-site non-destructive inspection of infrastructure has been installed on a trailer. The RANS-μ neutron salt meter using the Cf-252 source has already been used to measure more than 100 actual bridges in cooperation with RIKEN venture RANSVIEW and others. Currently, research and development for neutron measurement at space sites is also underway.
