Research Summary

Terahertz (THz) wave has the unique characteristics such as the transparency to many soft materials and their spectral absorption features. Combined with the growing expectations for Beyond 5G/6G in recent years, research and development is progressing in a wide range of research and industrial fields. Our team is developing new technologies and pioneering research and application fields related to the use of THz wave, with sensing and imaging using the wave as the probe. In particular, we are conducting research on controlling the structures and functions of biomolecules using THz irradiation, as well as research and development of extremely sensitive detectors using superconducting detectors. We are also promoting the development of applications through joint research with companies.
