RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science Superheavy Element Device Development Team

Team Leader: Kouji Morimoto (D.Sc.)

Research Summary

Kouji Morimoto

Our team is engaged in the development and maintenance of equipment necessary for the study of superheavy elements. In collaboration with internal and external researchers, we are advancing not only the search for new elements but also the exploration of new isotopes in the superheavy element region, studies on chemical properties, and ultra-precise mass measurements. We own three gas-filled recoil ion separators, which serve as our core equipment, and we are actively working on their maintenance and further enhancement. Furthermore, we are focusing on advancing detection systems and conducting research on developing targets capable of withstanding high-intensity beams.
