RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science Superheavy Element Research Group

Director: Hiromitsu Haba (D.Sc.)

Research Summary

Hiromitsu Haba

The heavy elements with atomic numbers exceeding 103 are called superheavy elements (SHEs). Superheavy Element Research Group, in cooperation with Superheavy Element Device Development Team and Nuclear Chemistry Group, promotes the search for new elements and research on nuclear and chemical properties of SHEs. In addition, we develop and maintain SHE production and separation devices, detectors, and chemistry apparatuses.
