Research Summary

Toru Hara

The Advanced Beam Dynamics Team develops methods for the generation, precise control and stabilization of high-brightness electron beams based on the dynamics and electromagnetics of charged particles, contributing to the performance enhancement of the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) SACLA. We provide users with not only Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission (SASE) but also unique laser operation modes, such as self-seeded XFEL and two-color XFEL. We also work on the lattice design, control system development and low-emittance beam injection for SPring-8-II.
