COI Management
RIKEN conducts comprehensive trials and research in the field of science and technology. To disseminate our findings to society and promote their utilization, RIKEN actively fosters joint research and commissioned research with companies and universities, as well as technology transfer to the industry sector, such as intellectual property rights.
In order to ensure the fairness and transparency of RIKEN, as well as its social credibility as a public institution, and to create an environment in which its executives and employees can participate in industry-academia-government collaboration activities with peace of mind, RIKEN has established a conflict of interest (COI) management policy. Based on this policy, RIKEN implements appropriate COI management, including taking necessary measures both to prevent COI arising from its activities and in the event that a COI arises.
COI management based on requests from outside of RIKEN
When conducting research funded by MHLW grants or AMED, when conducting medical and biological research involving human subjects, and when conducting research based on funding from other external organizations, the research is reviewed based on the policies and guidelines set by each funding organization, etc., in addition to the review based on RIKEN’s Regulations for the Management of COI.
