RIKEN strengthens ties with China

Beijing Representative Office and new MOU

On June 24, 2011, around 250 people from throughout China attended an event to commemorate the opening of the RIKEN Beijing Representative Office established in December, 2010 by RIKEN. At the event, RIKEN President Noyori presented a lecture on "Science and Technology for Future Generations" in which he emphasized the need for Japan and China to work together to resolve the global issues of energy, food, health, and environment that confront humanity today.

Another highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between RIKEN and the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). This MOU marks the strong resolve of both parties to promote research cooperation between RIKEN and its partners in China.
