Comments on Professor Susumu Kitagawa’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry
Dr. Susumu Kitagawa of Kyoto University has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking work on the development of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs).Dr. Kitagawa pioneered this novel class of porous materials and, through experiments conducted at the large-scale synchrotron radiation facility SPring-8, he was the first to demonstrate their remarkable ability to adsorb gases.
