Research Summary
Theory and principles not only expand the possibilities for explaining phenomena, but also play a central role in determining what can be observed and in designing experiments. In order to construct a theory that reflects the characteristics of multi-level interdependence and complexity common to living organisms, society and nature, this team has developed an organism mechanics theory to explain biological phenomena based on the principles of physics. This theory has also shown that the formation of order in living organisms proceeds according to the principle of maximum entropy production. We are currently using this organism mechanics theory to develop new models to explain disease, development, ageing, consciousness and evolution.
