研究概要

我々の住む宇宙は、138億年前のビッグバンから始まりました。最初は水素とヘリウムしか存在しなかった宇宙も、星の爆発に伴う元素合成により、現在の多様な元素に満ちあふれた世界に進化しました。我々は人工衛星を用いて、天体からのX線・ガンマ線を観測することで、元素が作り出される現場を調べ、宇宙における元素創成のシナリオを完成させることを目指しています。また、ブラックホールや中性子星など、地上では到達できない極限状態にある天体において、我々の物理の知識がどこまで通用するのか、検証する観測を行っています。
